There is no greater inspiration to fashion than classic art. This week I've been wearing floaty clothes, big jewelry and eccentric turbans, in a true baroque kind of mood. I think baroque art is especially fashionable with all its texture, drama and lightning. The season isn't ideal for the sort of heavy materials and colors that are represented in baroque art though, so I lighted the mood with a soft pink color scheme. Choosing lighter colours with heavier and different articles of clothing can make them a bit more modest, which can be good in this modern world where robes and turbans aren't too common around town. You don't want to stand out too much on the sweaty subway, attracting other weirdos who also think they're queens from the 1500th century...
This perticular outfit was inspired by Jan Vermeers most famous painting,
Girl with a Pearl Earring.
