My hair has been growing out of control ever since I cut it. So today I decided to do something about it and cut my own hair into this medieval mushroom style. My hair is very forgiving of bad cutting because of its texture and thickness, which I why I usually cut my own hair. Androgyny

There's a big difference between being androgynous and being a tomboy. Androgyny plays on lack of gender-identity while the tomboy is more of a protest against gender-identity. I've personally always been very feminine, without really thinking about it. My gender identity has always been very clear to me. However, the way I look is more vague. I'm a skinny girl and I don't like to dress to exaggerate my bust, so physically I do have a boyish quality. However, nobody would ever question my gender because it's very obvious from the way I am, my gestures, speach etc. So I've always found it exciting to use this vague androgynous side of myself. I actually find that it pushes my femininity rather than the other way around. Mens wear is really comfortable, and can be really sensual if worn properly, especially with a bold detail like bright red lipstick or dark eye-shadow!
If you don't want to go all the way with mens wear, you can start with accessories, like hats, bowties, shirts, tailored pants etc.

Today I took a morning walk around Trollhättan. I can't believe it's late November and I can still walk around without a jacket. I was all alone with the beautiful scenery and had time to think and enjoy the day. That's the best thing about living in a small town, being close to nature and being able to be by yourself for a while.

Homemade Sloe liqueur

Here's my recipe on homemade sloe liqueur. It's a great sweet tasting liqueur which goes great with deserts and is also great to mix in drinks. My father suggested that I made sloe liqueur because there are lots of sloe bushes near where I live. I followed his vague instructions and free-styled a bit when making this, but it's so simple to make that you can't really do much wrong. All you need is sloe berries, schnapps and sugar.

Step 1. Pick lots of Sloe berries! Depending on how much liqueur you're planning on making, make sure you have enough berries to be just covered with the schnapps. According to tradition, you should pick the berries after the first frost of the year, since the berries become sweeter after being frozen. But you can just as well leave them in the freezer over night.

Step 2 Pour the alcohol over the berries in a close-able container (I'm only using a jug and a plastic bag, which is good enough, but a big jar or bottle would be better!). Now leave this container for about 2-3 weeks. After a while you will see that the schnapps is turning red, and that's when it's done!

Step 3. Pour the liquid into a nice bottle/bottles. Keep the berries in the container, they're still filled with juice which you can squeeze out by pouring lots of sugar on them. The chemical reaction will make the liquid in the berries come out. Leave the container a week or so, until the berries are all wrinkly and dry. Then pour the remaining fluids into the bottles.

Now you're done and can serve your deserts with some nice sloe liqueur!

The worst part of living in Scandivania is that the summers are super short and the winter goes on and on. I barely have about two months to wear my favorite summer dresses before they go back to a box on a shelf. I've had enough of it, this year the summer dresses stay! So I'm starting to stock up on warm and cosy cardigans that can go over the not so warm dresses. Cardigans are very versatile and works great with short dresses. This great thrift find will hopefully keep me warm enough, at least throughout November!

Annual Lobster Party

I saw my family this weekend as they were closing down the summer-house for the winter. I live really close to my parents summer house, unlike them who had to go 6 hours by car. So they spent the night here before we all went down to the coast to have the annual lobster party with Carl and his parents who live in the house next door. We had a beautiful last day by the west coast before we went home.

Mushrooms

Carl and I went out to look for mushrooms this weekend. Unfortunately the water in the channel was really low, so the way to the floodgates, where we were planning on looking, was cut off for safety reasons.

Instead we went to a smaller forest area close by. We didn't find any eatable mushrooms, just a couple of lingonberries and blueberries. I did pick some mushrooms that sort of looked like chantarelles, and pretended that they were for a while, but they where really just an ugly little mushroom with a name that starts with mucus. So i threw them away. We had a nice time anyway. Carl found some really nice records in a sandwich shop where we stopped on the way, so at least we brought something home!

I'm back in Trollhättan for just about a week now. Things are pretty much the same here, but I'm excited to be back in school.

This morning I got another package from Yozo magazine. It was a really cute blouse from the brand soup again. I love the fabric, it's very flowy and romantic. The model has great little features, like an extra little button in the cleavage area and form fitted lines which are very flattering! I can wear it at school, but probably also to a more formal event.

Before the summer I updated my old cellphone with an I-phone. I like it a lot, but I hated using it as a phone, and the included headset didn't work at all for me. I've always prefered to speak in traditional phone receivers, but since I don't own a stationaty phone I have to use my mobile phone for all my calls.

But now I've found a great traditional headset, and can keep the old feeling while being super modern! It's also good to be aware of the radiation, while looking cute! The retro cassette tape was a gift from my sister.

Indian Summer Movies

A big storm came in over Stockholm last night and it's been raining constantly today. So I've stayed inside, wathcing movies. Here are some tips of movies suitable for the end of summer. They all have in common a feeling of temporary comfort, which is what I think summer is for(At least here in Scandinavia)

The swimmer
The swimmer is about a Man (Burt Lancaster) who decides to swim his way home through his neighbours swimmingpools. As he gets closer to home you get a clearer understanding of what has happened to his life, and what started out at a warm summer day ends in a cold fall evening.

Suddenly last summer
The only son of a wealthy widow dies while on vacation with his cousin Catherine (Elizabeth taylor). A young doctor (Montgomery Clift) is asked to make a lobotomy of the girl who has turned insane. But as he starts to treath Cathrine he relaizes that the lobotomy might just be a way of covering up the truth Cathrine knew about her cousin.

Solaris
The psychologist Kris is sent to the Planet Solaris to confirm the mental health of the two remaining scientist at a space station. The planet has a mysterious intelligence which can materialize the human's most inner thoughts. The experiments done on Solaris are indirect experiments with the human mentality. It proves to be impossible to comunicate with the non-human intelligence of Solaris, and instead Kris meets his long dead wife and has to deal with his own inner self.

Badlands

Badlands is a bizarre love story about a young couple murdering people in Dakota. Since the movie is told from 15 year old Hollys perspective, the movie still gets a carefree and playful tone.

Frederic is a happily married man but he daydreams of other women. He has no intetion to betraing his wife but then Chlöe, an old mistress of his friend shows up and decides to seduce him.

I'm collaborating with Yozo again and got a beutiful pink shirt this time.

I also got a beautiful bag from Ruth Shiverly, with my portrait on it.

The shirt is beautiful and flowy. It’s perfectly thin for summer. The pattern is made from little stones which makes it sparkly in the sun. I got lots of compliments for it!
It's very absorbent though. When it started to rain the other day I got see-through wet in minutes. Other than that, it's great! It reminds me of a flapper dress.

The bag from Ruth is also really beautiful! It's so well made and I love the portrait! It's actually too nice for me to actually use, but I've found a great place on the wall for it! Ruth is such an amazing artist, visit her website and etsy shop.

I've also cut my hair! I've been planning on cutting it for a while since I have very thick hair, which makes it difficult to look after when it's long. My sister cut it for me, so the haircut is far from perfect, but I like it a lot!

I'm taking part in yet another collaboration with Yozo magazine. This time I've been assigned this beautiful skirt from the brand "Soup". I was asked to write how I plan to style it, an this is my interpretation of the Soup skirt:

Romantic, quirky and smart.

I plan to style this item in a casual, feminine and preppy way. I think colors like navy blue, soft green or turquoise would suit it, worn with big summery shoes and long flowy hair. It has a classic touch, and would look nice with knee-stockings and a pale blouse.

We've started a really fun comic project in school, which is great since I have a huge passion for comics. I'm one of the project leaders in this project, so I've tried to be presentable, not only in my actions, but also in how I look these past two weeks. If you want to be respected, it's important to look stable and professional, as well as act like it. I hope to do a good job as a project leader, but even if I don't, I'll at least look like one ;)

Hair up - Wearing your hair up instead of loose shows work commitment and confidence (showing your whole face)
Blazer - It doesn't have to be part of a suit, but putting on a blazer will always add some seriousness to your apparel.
Stripes - stripes can lighten up your appearance, but still seem neat and orderly, compared to most other patterns
Skirt - figure fitted skirts have a more professional appeal than loose or flowy ones. I'm wearing a quite short skirt to keep the outfit young, which is fine in my line of work, but perhaps not in other more strict situations.
Color - Adding some color will make you more noticeable, and it's a good thing especially for a creative leader.
Heels - Heels will automatically improve your carriage, but they also add some height which is important. You don't want to be looked down on.

Spring means hats to me. I've always loved to wear hats, since I was little. Hats add so much character to a person!

Here are some of the hats I keep in my collection. I have plenty more still at my parents place, but these are the ones I use today:

The Vagabond

The vagabond hat is a mysterious old hat I bought in Germany. It's very simple and classic looking but has a lovely feeling about it which seems dreamy and intriguing

Le Patron

Le Patron is a lovely little hat which used to belong to my grandmother. It's got a nice cut which makes it seem almost uniform-like. This hat is powerful and confident.

The Flowerchild

This beautiful hat has been my favorite for some time! It was my mother's originally. It has a beautiful flowy and organic feel to it. It's my most romantic hat!

The Explorer

This hat was my absolute favorite when I was 13-14 years old. I was teased a lot for it, but never gave it up! It evokes such a great fantasy of the 1930's explorer who is always up for new adventures. That's who I wanted to be when I was a teenager

The California Dream

This hat is actually really similar to the Flowerchild, and it also belonged to my mother in her youth. However this one is smaller, and the color gives you a whole different association. It's a very happy and fun hat and it gets attention!

The Boheme

This hat was knitted for me by my grandmother, during my bohemian goth period in life. I still wear it a lot since it's such a discrete and casual yet elegant hat!

The Girlfriend

This is a very sweet, velvet hat which also used to belong to my grandmother. It has a very friendly and innocent feel about it!

I saw my friend Robin this week. Robin wears Lolita, which is a very interesting fashion scene! I'm so envious of all the cuteness! Although I could never pull it off myself, and the community seems surprisingly though and almost fascist when it comes to brands and body/ethnicity. Robin wears Lolita well however!

About Lolita
Lolita was originally a Japanese subculture. The style is inspired by Victorian and Rococo fashion. The skirt should be knee-length and as little skin as possible should be shown with knee high socks and buttoned up blouses. Lolita should not be mistaken for something sexual (although there is a version of lolita called Ero lolita which focus on eroticism). Lolita represent something innocent, sweet and cute. The classic lolita look is quite Europe inspired with classic British looking patterns and muted colors. There are also other kind of lolitas, like Gothic, Sweet, Guro, Country and many more.

If you've followed me for a long time, you've probably noticed that I've started to wear a lot of pink. This is not only because I like the color, but mainly because I realized how much self-hatered is connected to the color within the female community.
Often femenism is associated with women acting like men, which is bizarre to me. Femininity is looked down on as if it was something silly, instead of being taken seriously the way it deserves. The big issue is not that genders are being divided in different categories, the problem is that one of the categories is not as much worth as the other. That's why I wear pink a lot these days, to sympathize with a social code that still isn't being taken seriously.

mysterious folklore

As a kid, I was very scared on the woods. I had heard stories of children disappearing in the deep forests, being abducted by trolls. I can't remember ever believing in Santa Claus, but there was no doubt in my mind that trolls existed. I believed in most of the Scandinavian folklore when I was little, and walking through a forest was always excitement mingled with terror.

Everyday is like sunday

When I was living in Stockholm dressing up was not a problem, but since I moved to a small town I've realized that it's not OK to wear cocktail-dresses while going to the supermarket here. I've had to compromise my personal style a lot since I got here. It's not just to be modest, but it simply isn't suiting to dress up in a small town the way it might be in a bigger city. But despite the compromises, I feel it's important to keep elements from my former self! I usually put on very simple and basic clothes and combine them with nicer shoes and accessories. That way you can stand out and express your personality without getting grumpy looks from the locals ;)

School-look:

Posh Docs

Two weeks ago I thought winter was finally over and could even see some grass while walking to school! But then the snow chaos showed its ugly face again, and now it's cold and snowy again... This means I'll have to keep wearing my doc martens for at least another month, and even though I love them, they're not the most elegant shoes...

So here's a tip of a nice compromise for your comfortable, but not so cute shoes. It doesn't have to take much to change something rough to into something a fairytale princess would wear. It's all in the shoelaces!

This is what my docs looked like before the makeover. First off all I removed the original black shoelace

Measure the shoelace with a band of your choice. I used a white silk band. To make it easier to put the new band through the holes, you can put some scotch tape at the end of both edges, then you can pull the band through the holes like regular shoelace

The result vary depending on what kind of band you choose. Silk definitely softens the mood and makes the shoe prettier. Here's the result:

I've had a nice long weekend and finally got a chance to be home and relax. Carl was here and we were walking around town and watched lots of movies which was nice! It's good to be lazy and not really do anything important for a few days!

Eskimo in Stockholm

I had a great weekend back in Stockholm. I miss the city so much! I met some relatives on Saturday and went to a café with my friend Robin on Sunday. . The only thing that bothered me was the snow that suddenly showed up when I was trying to catch a train! A few extra hours on the train station and I'm back in Trollywood! Hopefully I'll make time to visit Stockholm more this semester...

Because of the weather I took an outfit picture of my Eskimo-coat that kept me warm! I really like it.

Package from Australia

My sister Anna has been in Australia a year now. For Christmas she sent us presents but the package didn't arrive until recently, which was fine for me since I got it in time for my 22nd Birthday. I got several short books for women from between 1968 and 1974, they're adorable! Most of them take place in hospitals where pretty nurses fall in love with handsome doctors. I started reading "Cure my heart doctor" which is really sweet.
I also got lots of knitting-instructions from the 1960s. I've never been to Australia, but knitted clothes is not something I associate with it. Most of the instructions seem a bit complicated, but I just enjoy the funny pictures! She also sent me a weird plastic deer for my collection and there was a postcard for the whole family.

Underwear

having a very girly body-type, I've always felt very awkward in lingerie. Most of the sexy underwear available is obviously made for women with curves, and there are rarely any good alternatives for those of us with less to push around in weird corsets and bras. Everything is very vulgar and ill-fitting, even on bigger women. Besides, tight and revealing are the last things I think of when I want to be sexy or sensual. Instead of forcing yourself to look like a bad version of a moulin rouge dancer, it's much sexier to find underwear that you feel comfortable in, and only gives a hint of sexuality, rather than making it disgustingly obvious.

Bloomers

Bloomers can be very cute and sensual. They cover just enough to still be intriguing. You could of course use a pair of boxer shorts instead. Using male underwear, and clothes in general is an exciting contrast. But if you're not up for "cross-dressing" the bloomers are a great, feminine alternative. If you lack feminine forms, you might at least want to keep the femininity in what you're wearing.

Nightgown

The traditional nightgown is probably the most sensual out of all the underwear. This one is in a light transparent fabric which makes it sexy, but still loose and comfortable. The nightgown is especially good when you have a petite body-type since the fabric floats beautifully around the body.

Today I went with my father and youngest cousin Mani to the Swedish Museum of Natural History. After looking through the exhibitions, we went and saw a 3D movie at the Imax theatre Cosmonova. It was really quiet and nice at the Swedish nature exhibition and the stuffed animals looked almost real. It made me miss living in a big city where museums and cinemas are something you can visit whenever you like...

It was a beautiful day today, so I decided to take a walk around Trollhättan. Everything was really pretty and bright from all the snow, and I was all alone on the walk which is really popular in other seasons. I was planning on walking all the way to the big falls, but decided not to since it was really difficult to walk through the snow (no sand-path). Instead I went thrifting! I looked around and found lots of nice clothes, but decided to only buy a t-shirt. I was mainly looking for odd Christmas decorations and found a really creepy looking Santa figure which I fell in love with! Now I will spend the rest of the day in bed drinking tea and watching Italian movies!

I haven't made any updates in a while, mainly because I've been really ill. I still have an eye-infection which is slowly going away. I'm also really busy with school this month. I don't know if that's something that interest you readers, should I show the 3D stuff I make in school? I could actually use some inspiration, what do you think I should write more about? Or should I take more pictures of something? No matter what, I'll be back soon! It's been snowing for days so the nature is really beautiful around here, I'll probably go out and photograph it if I have the time next week. Yozo magazine sent me another item for a collaboration. This time the brand is Coiincos Cloth. I got this adorable little bolero, and it's so nice! I really like it a lot!

For this outfit my inspiration came from the roughness of the bolero. I immediately thought of something Gothic, but I wanted to keep my personality in it so I didn't go with anything obvious.

The quality of the bolero is very good! the fabric is rough and it has a good . The design is very inspiring, I really like the holes! The only bad thing I can think of is that the iron of the holes gets a bit cold against your skin this time of the year unless you wear something underneath.

What's great about this item is that it's wearable in lots of different situations. It has a sort of urban look but is decorative enough to be worn at a party. I think it's a very inspiring piece!

Yesterday when I got home from Göteborg I found Toulouse lifeless in his aquarium. He hadn't been feeling well for a while, he didn't even eat his little pills of fish-food the week before. It's sad to be alone in the apartment, but I knew he would die, and I think it was good for him that he did in a way.

Today I arranged a small funeral by the canal. I made Toulouse a little coffin and pushed it out in the water. I don't know anything about fish religion, and since I'm not religious myself I just mixed a few religious traditions for the ceremony. Today just happened to be the first day of snow as well, which seemed to suit the occasion . I filmed the funeral for my sister since Toulouse was very dear to her as well.

I promise to write about something less depressing this weekend!

I've been experimenting with hiding my dark eyebrows and I finally got a fairly good result! (The image is slightly edited too, but it's a much better result than I've gotten before). I got these lovely Pants through the Korean magazine Yozo. The brand is EXR, a Korean brand with comfortable and cute clothes in their collection. I really like the pants, they're super comfortable!

1. The point of styling coordination.
I wanted to mix them into a sort of quirky everyday look. The material is really simple, but the cut's really interesting so they're great for everyday wear, but not that ordinary.

2. The review about product.
I really like the cut of the pants, and the fact that they're light and airy when you wear them. They're really comfortable, but look good enough to wear to School.
What I didn't like was that the legs were a bit too short. I'm sure they'd work better in the summer, but my ankles get a bit chilly here in cold Sweden. The material's also too thin for me to be able to wear them for fall, but they'd make great exercise pants!

3. Occasion
The pants are very casual and probably works best as home-pants or in a relaxed and comfortable every day outfit. I'm sure they'd be great for airplanes too, since they look good and also feels great!

4. Your satisfaction totally on cloth.
I'll give them a 3 out of 5. They're cute but perhaps a bit too comfortable and simple for my style.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of fun updates, the weather's been really gloomy here and I really want to take some pictures of the beautiful falls here in Trollhättan. I did go out the other day to take pictures, the light was beautiful and I was all alone with all the beauty of nature, and then my camera decided to quit on me... So I've now decided to use some of my spare money from working this summer to buy a proper system camera (in case you didn't know, I'm currently using a not so great digital compact camera). I'm really excited about getting it! I don't think the camera makes as much difference to a picture as the photographer, but I think I'll feel more inspired if I get a camera with better functions.

I've also started a blog for my school progress if you're interested. So far I've mainly uploaded old things I've done to be able to see progress as I learn more and more in School. I keep it fairly up to date and we have our first big assignment this week, so I'm sure I'll have something nice to present this weekend :) See it here!

X'U is a Ukranian brand that I got to know about some time ago from an email. Since it's pretty much full blown autumn here, I figure it's about time to show some good autumn styles, and X'U has a really great fall collection!

The style is sort of nonchalant 70's cute with a fun twist of animal prints and "baggy" shoes. I imagine the clothes should be worn by a cute hermit who lives in the woods of eastern Europe.

I think I will wait to upload pictures of my apartment until I get all my furniture (I get the rest in 3 weeks). However, I found this adorable store which sells curtains in town that I think I'll visit. Since all the big supermarkets only have modern curtains with retro patterns, I think I'll have better luck in this store since I'm looking for thin, green 80's curtains (very specific, I know). So I might just take some pictures of the kitchen-area if I find good curtains next week.

Anyways... I haven't had my hair out since probably before the summer. But since it's gotten really chilly now, I've been wearing my hair out these last couple of days (I have really thick hair, it works great as a big fur-hat! ;) ). It has really grown a lot since I cut it super short 2 years ago!

It's insanely hot in Stockholm and I don't have the energy to do anything! Earlier this week I got admitted to the program I applied for (3d animation and visualisation) which means I'll be moving really soon! I think it will be fun, but I'm slightly worried about money since I don't want to take big loans while I study. I'll be living in the much smaller town Trollhättan, but it's close to Göteborg (where I used to live) so in case I get bored, I can always go there.

Anyways... Because of the heat, I've been trying to wear as little clothes as possible lately, so I haven't worn a lot of interesting things. I would however like to make a short post about my latest inspiration: early 20th century clothes mixed with 90's acessoires.

I'm not a big fan of grunge in general, but since I grew up in the 90's I will always assosiate boots, big plaided shirts and hair parted in the middle as something that the cool kids wore. Besides, there's nothing to point out a beautiful blouse or pretty earrings like something big and dirty surrounding it. A lot of pretty things get even prettier when you add something ugly.

I'm afraid I'll be going again tomorrow, so there is a possibility that this will be the last blog post in at least 2 weeks. We're going to London for Carl's cousins wedding and when we get home, we'll be at the Swedish coast for a week. I have a really cute dress for the wedding that I'll show when I get back! ;)

Stockholm is really hot this week! Yesterday I lay in the park all day reading books and eating sandwiches. A great way to stay cool is to wear long and lose skirts. They really do cool your legs as you walk. I've also been wearing hats all summer to avoid getting burned by the sun. I can never find a pair of sunglasses that suit me, but the hat is a great substitute for shades!

Today after work I went to vanadislunden which is a park close to where I live. It's a beautiful place in the middle of Stockholm and I felt as if I was way out in the countryside. Unfortunately my camera battery died before I could take the pictures I wanted to take. Fortunately I managed to get one picture of my outfit of the day which is nice since I've been planning on introducing this outfit for a while now. The hat is my new favorite hat, I wear it all the time! It's my mother's old hat and she has two of them, one in green and one in red. It's the perfect summer hat and it's really easy to travel with since you can fold it any way you like without having to worry about the shape. The dress is also one of my new favorites. I was actually considering selling this dress but decided to modify it to suit my taste better. I cut of the turtleneck and shaped the neck nicely so it could be worn in the summer and now it's a great dress to throw on when I don't feel like over thinking what I want to wear. The shoes are the only thing that actually cost me some money. I usually buy cheap clothes and spend more on shoes since it's really important for me to have comfortable shoes. These shoes also look great and I love wearing them with different socks since the cut of the shoe makes a beautiful pattern.

Summer movies

I'm really excited about summer this year! I'm really looking forward to my 3 weeks in France and I've been listening to "Sea sex and sun" by Serge Gainsbourg to really get in the mood for the French riviera (I'll probably skip the sex part but I'll enjoy the sea and sun!). When I get back I'll only be in Sweden for a week until we go to England for Carl's cousins wedding. I know that I expressed some cynical views about weddings a couple of months ago in a blog post, but I don't hate them! It's just that we have a huge wedding hysteria in Sweden now since the oldest princess is getting married so I got fed up. I'm way to sentimental not to love weddings. After all the traveling, I'll spend a week at the west coast in my parents summer house by the sea. I love the sea more than anything and missed it so much after moving from Göteborg. Anyway, enough about my summer schedule, here's a list of my top favorite summer movies that can be watched after a long day at the beach:

1. Sommar med Monika

Summer with Monika is one of my all time favorite movies! It's about a young couple who runs away one summer and lives on different islands in the archipelago outside of Stockholm. It was controversial abroad when it came out since you get to see Harriet Anderssons naked behind. It's a really sweet yet bitter love story

2. Nóz w wodzie

The knife in the water is about a middle aged man and his younger wife on their way out on a sailing trip. They end up inviting a young hitch-hiker to come with them and this eventually leads to a domestic triangle where the two men start fighting on the boat and the young man falls into the water. The movie is built up great and the soundtrack by Krystof Komeda is fantastic.

3. The Cement Garden

The cement garden is about a teenage boy who lives with his two sisters and little brother in a depressing little town. During a short period of time both parents in the family die and the two oldest kids decide to bury the mother in the basement in order to avoid foster care. The relationship between the boy and his older sister slowly evolves to an incestious love affair while the home falls apart under the care of only children. It's a really weird movie with a great feeling of decadent teenage summer.

4. 8 1/2

8 1/2 is about a movie director trying to relax after his latest big movie, but everyone around him is excited to get started with a new movie again. He finally decides to make a new movie, inspired by his surroundings. This movie, like most of Fellini's movies, is more based on moments than plot. This movie feels like an orgy of childhood memories and is also one of my favorites all time!

5. En kärlekshistoria

En kärlekshistoria is a beautiful love story about two young teenagers. The contrast between the pure love of the teenagers and the uglyness of the adult world makes it extra powerful. This is a classic Swedish movie and one of the best teen movies ever in my opinion! The movie takes place in the same neighbourhood I grew up so I feel extra connected to it.

Honey-flavoured brownies with Mango chutney

It's been a while since I wrote something here, I'm not sure why. But since I'll going away to Nice next week I figure I should try to post a few updates before I leave and take a 3 week internet break. I have a blog post about hats coming up next week, and I'll probably make a quick outfit post. Anyway...

I made some really tasty brownies for mother's day. They're honey-flavoured and rich brownies, served with mango chutney, all you need is:
140 g butter
2.5 dl sugar
1.5 dl flour
2 table spoons of cocoa
2 table spoons of honey
1 pinch of salt
1 tea spoon of powdered vanilla flavoured sugar
2 eggs
mango chutney

Start by putting the owen on 175c and melt the butter in a casserole.

Carefullt mix the eggs with the flour and whip it spongy, then add the rest of the ingredients.

Pour the mixture in a ovenware and bake the brownies for 15 minutes.

Let the brownies cool and serve them with mango chutney. Tastes great!

Vacation homes 1968

I photographed some pictures from the magazine "fritidshus" ("vacation homes") that I found among other fun stuff at my grandmother's house. The magazine is from 1968, but the dream of a vacation home lives on and there are at least 5 similar magazines out now. I don't know what it's like everywhere else, but it's a Swedish tradition to get a vacation home that you build things for and renovate all through your summer vacation. I know it sounds sad to work on your vacation, but it's very popular here. It's a beautiful dream though; building the perfect little place for your family, and this magazine really shows what that perfect little place could look like:

Yesterday Albert and I went to Berns to see Dengue Fever. I was waiting for Albert in Kungsträdgården where the cherry blossoms have finally started to bloom! Inspiration - Cat People

Carl sometimes gets me records (I think at least 60% of my collection are gifts from him). A couple of months ago he got me a bunch of records, including the soundtrack to Cat people by David Bowie. I started listening to it yesterday and it made me want to watch the movie again, since I've only seen it once when I was 12 or something. So I dug it out and watched it. It's a really weird movie. I'd love to see the original from 1942! The 82' version has a really great mood to it, despite the somewhat odd story (incestuous cat-mutants who kill their lovers). I especially love Natassja Kinski's role as Irena. Irena is a young and naive girl who has to fight her inner sexuality in order to save the Zoo-curator she's fallen in love with. Irena has a really simple and careless look (kind of boyish or almost prudish). But despite the long skirts and manly shirts, she's very sensual and the whole movie is based on the sexual tension she generates. I almost decided to cut my hair again after watching it to the end, but I've already decided to grow it out now. Anyone got any good film tips where they have gorgeous long hair? ;)

I've been reading a lot of blogs lately and realize that I don't write and show much about myself and what I do compared to other people. I don't have any cute pets or children to write about (unless you count Toulouse, but he's in a depression right now and is pretty boring). At the moment I'm working at the KTH library in Stockholm with exchange student accommodations. I do mostly paperwork and organize things in the computer system, not very exciting. I suppose I could write more about my days, but I get this weird feeling that I don't want to, that they're private. It's silly since I do regular stuff like everyone else. Spring legs

When I dress, I always make sure to keep the focus on my legs. I own very few low cut shirts and I own lots of fun pantyhose and stockings (no leggings, they're not flattering at all). In spring and summertime, my favorite leg wear are knee-socks. They don't suit everyone, but for young girls with skinny legs, they look really nice usually! Besides, my favorite clothing era, the 1960’s are full of great knee-socks inspiration around the mid era.

The Knee-sock is really the only sock (apart from the regular ankle-sock) that is non-gender specific. It is rather a reference of age than gender. You can get a sweet boyish feel with them but also very feminine, depending on what you mix them with.

Anyway, Carl's mother Eva is a fantastic and stylish person with loads of beautiful clothes (and things). I'm often wearing things I got from her. So while I was in Göteborg, Eva shot some pictures of me wearing some of her old clothes (Very few people want to contribute to the blog unless they're out of frame ;) ). Lip Balm

This weekend, my father and I made some home-made lip balm. It's really easy to make and make great, personal gifts. We used the really luxurious oil, argan oil, but other oils can work just as good. The argan oil is really good for your skin, so that's why we chose it. You mix the oil with bee wax (1/4 wax to the amount of oil). The easiest way to melt the wax is to put it in a container that you boil in a kettle with water. When the mix is around 60 °C (140°F) you can pour the mix into small containers and let it cool to become solid. If you use more oil, the mix can also be a great body lotion.

I'm going to see my grandmother today. She's a really creative and wise old lady and I'm hoping to take some nice pictures of some of the hats she's making. Anyway, this is what I look like today. I've been doing a lot of animations lately, as I'm sure some of you have noticed if you follow my flickr or if you're friends with me on facebook. I've always been a big comic book nerd and I used to make a lot of comics. But lately I've been more interested in animation (Since it's the same princips but in a different media). I've applied for an animation school in Sweden and hope to continue (and advance!) with some kind of animations in the future. I will also be competing with one of my films at a festival in April which is really fun! I'll update if i win anything (although I doubt it since my film is 2,5 minutes long...). But that's what I've been up to lately, and I guess it has taken a lot of time away from my regular blog posts. I'll be a better updater soon, I promise!

My current obsession is weddings. Not like I'm looking forward to getting married, absolutely not. What I like about Weddings is the melancholy of creating a kind of fairy tale about you. I always think it's a bit sad to see people getting married. Dressed up like kings and queens for a day, only to go back to a normal and daily struggle the next. I especially think it's sad to see old wedding pictures of serious young people, terrified of what comes next. Perhaps "sad" isn't the right word, but there really is a melancholy about weddings that fascinates me. When I read Art history, we had a course in photography in which we discussed photography as being used for rituals. The wedding picture is definitely a ritual. It's like a proof of the marriage and everyone has them. I could google wedding pictures for days, I love them! They tell so much about the people in them

It's been one of the longest and coldest winters in 60 years here in Sweden. The snow is still covering the street outside. However, this morning I heard birds singing and the temprature outside was above 0! I can't wait for the real spring to come!

I've been working on things to send in as applications for different schools but took a break last week since Carl was here visiting me. Hopefully I'll get in somewhere fun where I can do something rewarding instead of just sitting around. Here are a few of the works I'm considering sending in:
